Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi – The Four Seasons – 42’

about

The first classical music ever heard by the German-born British composer Max Richter was Vivaldi’s Le quattro stagioni (The Four Seasons). Many years later, he felt the work had lost much of its charm through repeated use in pop culture, so Max Richter determined to write a completely new version. Adopting a postmodern, minimalist approach he purified Vivaldi's score, integrated repeating patterns reminiscent of electronic music and at the same time ensured that the birds continue to tweet, the heat continues to vibrate and the thunder continues to roll.

The album Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi – The Four Seasons was for a long time the most played work in the classical music category on iTunes. The Ataneres Ensemble from Leuven perform Richter's work together with the German-Russian violinist Nadja Nevolovitsch for the opening concert of the Walden Festival.
