about

Philippe Thuriot is undoubtedly Belgium’s best-known accordionist. He has toured with les ballets C de la B (Alain Platel), recorded Bach’s Goldberg Variations and played with the most diverse ensembles and orchestras, including Oxalys, Het Collectief, Ictus, the La Monnaie orchestra conducted by Patrick Davin, Klangforum Wien and the WDR Jazz Orchestra. In collaboration with the trumpet player Carlo Nardozza, from Genk, he pays tribute to Astor Piazzolla at Walden Festival.

This Argentine composer, born a hundred years ago this year, revolutionised tango music. Expect virtuoso accordion playing, an intimate dialogue with the trumpet and sultry dance sounds.

This concert is one of the extra concerts in the ‘Citizens' Garden’ of the European Parliament. They are free to attend, whether you have a ticket for the festival or not.
