Cello Octet Amsterdam are celebrated worldwide for their interpretations of new music. Arvo Pärt described the ensemble as “worth their weight in gold” and top cellist Yo-Yo Ma has also been full of praise for their virtuoso performances. The legendary American composer Michael Gordon (who set up the famed Bang on a Can in New York) recently wrote a new piece for these eight top cellists: 8. Positioning themselves in a circle with the audience surrounding them gives an extra dimension to the music. One audience member described the live experience as “sculpture”.
